2009 Matchplay Championship
Final - Wentworth, 17th November Winner 2009 - Surinder Kalsi The Knockout final was played at The Wentworth Club on the East course between Surinder Kalsi (21) and Mark Mahomed (23).
Finalists: Mark Mahomed and Surinder Kalsi |
The first two holes were all square, Surinder went 1up on the 3rd but Mark pulled it back on the 4th. Surinder won the 5th and 6th with some good play. Mark at this stage was still trying to find his game but, thought he had pulled one back on the 7th with a long putt but alas Surinder holed his too. Mark was now despondent after seeing Surinders putt drop and went behind by 5 holes at the 11th. |
The match was played in excellent spirits and was a fitting end to the competition, which started back in May. Malcolm Coleman |
