Malcolm Coleman with the Quads Trophy

Report

A lovely spring day welcomed the 31 golfers including 3 guests to Sand Martins for our 2nd Day Meeting of the year taking part in a 9 hole team competition in the morning, followed by an 18 holes individual stableford competition in the afternoon. A Welsh Stableford team competition in the morning was played over the first nine holes of the course, each hole having a nominated player. The nominated player and the best score from one of the other 2 in the team made up the score for that hole. The winning team of Sean Hanson, Jeff Thomas & Roger Woof just edged out the team comprising Jim Bermingham, Mark Mahomed & David Burton on countback with 41 stableford points.

A little light rain for a short while during the afternoon didn't upset play too much, but the recently treated greens did make putting difficult and probably resulted in the scores being lower than expected. Malcolm Coleman narrowly won on countback with 37 points from Ian Forde to win the 1st prize and the Quads Trophy. Adrian Meredith was a point back in 3rd place.

One of our newer members Alan Snow got very close to the pin on the tricky 8th hole in the morning. In the afternoon Peter Farren was nearest the pin at the 4th hole with David Burton following at the 14th.
