Report

We returned to The Drift for our September Day Meeting and a 27 hole event, with a yellow ball team game in the morning over 9 holes (6th to 14th) followed by the afternoon's main 18 hole stableford event. The run of good weather we have had this Summer for our BA Golf events continued which was appreciated by a very good turn out of 37 golfers.

The morning 9 holes were played with a format where the yellow ball counted double, then each team takes their two best scores out of three and add together. Losing the yellow ball early on does make a good score difficult but losing it with the very first tee shot (Richard Croxford) makes it almost impossible. The winning team of Nigel Finch, Mick Parker and Lee Carpenter with 56 points just beat Steve McDonald, Les Sibley and Bernie Forbes by one point.

The afternoon individual event ended up being a Family Affair contest with son, Nathan Miles just beating dad, Bruce by one point with a very good score of 40 stableford points. Three golfers were next on 37 points - Dean, Burton, Charles Cemlyn-Jones and Colin Griffiths with Colin claiming 3rd place with the best back 9 score.

Nearest the pins went to Nigel Weldon, Steve McDonald, Mick Parker and Clive Jones.
