Contents
General
a. Membership Cards
The membership card shall only be used by the person named on that card and may not be transferred, lent or borrowed.
Misuse of a membership card can result in the member being expelled from the section.
b. Breaking of host club rules
It is important to appreciate that breaking of home club rules or disturbance of club members can result in the section
being banned from that club in future years.
c. Complaints
Any complaints must be made in writing to the secretary.
All members are asked to avoid being drawn into arguments with host club members.
Any disagreements or difficulties experienced must be reported immediately to the secretary so that the committee can
handle the situation with the club in a more official manner.
d. Damage to property
Removal or damage to any property of a host club shall be the responsibility of the person causing such loss or damage,
which he will make good.
Damage should be reported to the host club secretary immediately.
e. Handicaps
Any member having a lower handicap at his home club should communicate the fact to the handicap secretary.
Exception: when competing in competition or matches with/against non-members of the section, members will use their home
club handicap. If no home club handicap exists then the member will play off his/her section handicap.
f. Loss of property
Members are not insured by the section.
Neither the section or the club shall be under any obligation or liability for loss or damage or injury to property or
persons in or about club premises or the course.
g. Dress
Members must respect the host clubs dress code (e.g. jacket and tie in the lounge and dining rooms).
h. Etiquette
The section is judged by its behaviour both on the course and in the clubhouse.
Please ensure we are invited to return to the host clubs by complying with all the rules of etiquette.
Section Matches
These are arranged with other clubs, societies or Airlines throughout the year.
Members wishing to play in
matches should forward their name to the Match Secretary and/or complete the relevant section of the membership application
form.
ASCA Tournament
Six nominations for a men's team and four nominations for a ladies team are required annually from the section for this
tournament.
These will include four men and three lady golfers with the best scratch scores from the ASCA qualifying event(s),
decided each year by the committee, plus two men and one lady golfer selected by the committee.
Day Meetings
Normally eight day meetings are arranged at different courses throughout the year. Partners are drawn according to
handicaps. See Day Meetings section for details.
Applications to attend and payment must be made to the Day Meeting Secretary by the closing date.
Failure to attend on the day shall normally result in no refund.
Moneys will not be collected on the day.
Members will always recognise and respect the rules and requirements of the host club.
Competitions
Arrangements for seasonal competitions at host clubs are detailed in the Medals/Competitions section. They are normally
held over a period of four weeks.
Members shall only play during the specified period of the competition.
The entry sheet must be signed and the green fee paid before commencing play. The instructions displayed on the entry
sheet shall be followed.
Playing in fours is not permitted in individual stroke play competitions.
Members shall not enter a competition unless they are in possession of a section handicap.
Competition cards shall be marked and signed by a member who has a section handicap and who has witnessed all of the
play. Cards should be placed in the section box at the end of the round. Cards will be checked by the Tournament
Secretary.
Due to the large number of discrepancies in scoring of the Monthly Medal cards, it is now the responsibility of each
player to ensure his/her card is correct in both the score and total addition. Any incorrectly completed cards will result
in disqualification.
Match Play Championship
The format is match play over 18 holes.
The competition is played off Full Handicap with full difference to be played upto a maximum difference of 18 shots. ie: No player will have an advantage of more than one shot per hole.
Stroke calculation examples below....
An 8 handicap plays an 18 handicap, full difference is 10. (ie 18 handicap player gets a stroke advantage on holes index 1 to 10)
An 6 handicap plays a 27 handicap, the difference being 21 but the competition difference will be the maximum of 18.
Ladies will play off men's cards but ladies tees. If two ladies play each other they will play off the ladies tees and card.
The rounds up to and including the final can be played at any course, each player is responsible for his or her own
green fee.
The first name player is the 'home' player and can choose the venue on a mutually agreed date. The 'home' player is also responsible for contacting the other player, but if has not done so by the last week of the Round being played he loses that advantage, and may forfeit the match.
The winner will inform the Knockout Secretary ASAP by e-mail or telephone after the result.
Failure in any of the above may result in the disqualification of both players.
