2007 Matchplay Championship
Winner 2007 - Richard Croxford
This years Matchplay Final competition was played on the Edinburgh course at Wentworth on 25th October. Surinder Kalsi and Richard Croxford were the finalists who had won through from a field of 36. A grey, overcast day with occasional fine drizzle greeted the players but there was hardly any wind and it was warm for the end of October, so the golfing conditions were good for Richard and Surinder. As expected at Wentworth the Edinburgh course was in excellent condition with slick greens.
Surinder (24) had a few shots advantage over Richard (12) but with both golfers having had some big wins in qualifying it was difficult to predict a winner. Richard played the steadier golf over the first 7 holes with Surinder struggling to find his best form, at this point Richard was 4 up. However Surinder rallied over the next 6 holes and was only 2 down after the 13th. Then Richard won the next two holes finishing with a birdie on the 15th to clinch the win 4 & 3.
