Report
Henley Golf Club was the venue for this years guest pairs with a very good entry of 52 golfers taking part. The Guest Pairs - was organised to allow members to introduce friends \ associates to the BA Golf section and hopefully encourage them to join. Among the guests it was good to see a number of former members turn out. Some of the longer standing members remember playing BA Golf events at Henley a number of years ago, but for most it was a first opportunity to play at this delightful golf club.
The course condition was in excellent with a very well maintained bunkers, fairways and slick true greens. Added to this were the terrific views over the Oxfordshire countryside with autumn colours standing out on a beautiful sunny, warm day. The 18 hole event had golfers playing in 4 balls with each pair playing a better ball off full handicap using the stableford points scoring system. There were 4 pairs prizes and also nearest the pins on all the par 3's. Nigel Weldon and Steve Johnson (guest) took 4th place on countback just behind Alan Snow and John McKeown (guest) in 3rd. A very good score of 48 points (last years winning score) for Colin Griffiths and David Crouch (guest) wasn't quite good enough as last years winners, Peter Ashwood and Len Tucker (guest) returned to go one better and win with 49 points. Four of the 6 nearest the pin prizes went to guests, David Crouch, Derek Stone, John Morgan and M Sagoo. The event organiser Malcolm Coleman won the long par 4th hole. Closest shave of the day and saving his bank balance went to David Burton who was one inch away from the pin on the 11th hole.
